I have mentioned before in several books and articles that communication is perhaps the most studied discipline in the history of this planet. There are so many routes and facets that have been researched that we sometimes forget that it essentially a message being communicated between the sender and the receiver with variables that will differ in influence depending on the context of the communication. Thus when it comes to presentation either in small or big groups, inevitably preparation becomes more and more content rather than audience-based.
The must and GO TO plan a presentation message is through still through the realisation of the ethos, pathos and logos plus kairos, the essential pillars of persuasive elements mapped over the 6 keys of persuasion. People would sometimes like to differentiate the reasons for communication into:
- Information
- Leisure
- Persuasion
However, all these realisations must be grouped into the central command bank of presentation main target which is to deliver what the audience wants to be answered, how they want their questions to be answered and do they need surface or deep level answers. If we can prepare on this notion, the presentation message will be handy for the audience. Nonetheless, the presenter must at all times, exhibit the willingness and readiness to present.
