SEMINAR TOPIC:- SOCIAL LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

A total of 25 pax registered for the 2 days training session. However only 21 turnup for training during the 2 days training. A few lecturers were involved in audit, so they requested time off for 1-2 hours to attend audit. Most of them return to the training session after their audit.
Most of the lecturers are LMS coordinator for their faculties. They were expecting the seminar to assist them in their work and teach them about new tactics for their LMS. Every LMS is custom designed. MAHSA’s LMS is based on Moodle but their custom design their LMS. As a result, we are not able to tell or teach them what their system can do. This was the initial set back we faced in Day 1. I had to explain what is LMS and then types of LMS that are available in the industry. I also covered in detail the functions of each type of LMS. With this they understood the purpose of the training and was willing to learn more.
Internet was a big hurdle on day 1 as internet is blocked in Pharmacy Block. So, nobody could access the internet even with our own phones. We had to get the IT department to fix a special modem to solve this issue. So, most of the first day we covered theory and explanation. A lot of questions regarding the issues and challenges faced by the participants with their LMS was answered during the 1st half of the day. Late second half of the day, we manage to log in and everybody set up their social learning management account with Edmodo. After that the internet went down again. So, discussion was done in class based on video materials. We also exposure the participants on how to prepare for Flip classroom teaching. Lecturers were forced to go through exercises in front of the class to show what they understand.
Second day, we brought the studio equipment to the venue. Each lecturer was taught to design their contents for delivery. Some tactics and strategies were shared in the session. Once they were ready they were asked to do their recording. Surprising all the lecturers participated except for one lecturer.
